Questions
How does the recovery coaching process actually work?
Unlike clinical therapy which often focuses on the 'why' of the past, coaching is action-oriented and future-focused. We work together to identify current roadblocks, set practical boundaries, and create a sustainable daily structure that moves you from chaos toward clarity. It is a partnership built on accountability and lived experience.
Is this support intended for the individual or the family?
The coaching relationship has to be built on trust and real rapport. That only happens when the person I’m working with feels like they have space to be honest and build that connection directly. When the same coach is too involved on both sides, it can muddy that process and make it harder for the loved one to feel fully safe opening up.
That does not mean family gets pushed out. It means family involvement needs to be handled the right way. Family meetings are where I step in to help facilitate communication, create clarity, and make sure the conversation stays productive without breaking the trust that the one-on-one work depends on.
I also strongly encourage families to have their own coach or support person. I’m always happy to coordinate with that person so communication can happen when needed between two professionals who understand the space. That usually creates a much healthier dynamic, because the goal is not just helping one person — it is getting the whole system working better together.
What is the first step toward getting started?
It starts with a call. Nothing overly formal and no pressure. We talk through what is going on, what you are looking for, and whether this feels like the right fit. Sometimes clarity starts just by finally having a real conversation about it.
Is my privacy and information protected?
Yes. Trust matters a lot in this work. What you share is treated with respect and discretion. The whole point is creating a space where you can actually be honest, and that only works if the relationship feels safe.
Is this support just for recovery?
No. A lot of my work is recovery-related, but not all of it. I also work with people who feel stuck, burned out, off track, or tired of repeating the same patterns in life. At the core, this work is about honesty, structure, momentum, and building a life that actually works.
